Fearful Symmetry, AMP Gallery, 2022

Fearful Symmetry features range of Psychologically Charged Sculptures, Disrupted Family Photographs, Intimate Drawings and the Artists’ recent Award Winning Video, Tell Me I’m Not Alone (Selected for Visions at The Nunnery Gallery 2022, The Indie Berlin Film Festival 2022, Omovies Film Festival (Naples) 2022 and Winner of Cineparis Film Festival Best Artist Show 2022).

A body of work which as a whole inhabits a world somewhere between A Therapist's Room and Angela Carter’s unsettling Fairy Tales. The Artist has created a space of Self-Reflection and Self-Realisation where the boundaries of Fantasy, Reality and Biography are blurred through works which questions the "symmetry" or balance between Life and Death, Compassion and Predation.

Lifting the veil of the subconscious, Gurhy tackles the challenges of human intimacy and the state of the individual in relation to others in society. Through the use of Anthropomorphic Animals and Freudian Symbolism, Love, Grief and notions of a Contradictory Higher Power or Order, are explored but ultimately left unanswered — only questions remain inviting the reader to participate in pondering them.
